SCHOLARGIFT PROGRAM

Harriett’s Daughters, Inc. is honored to grant ScholarGifts to young women in their senior year of high school, who have lost their mother to cancer or whose mother has an end-stage cancer diagnosis, and aspire to pursue higher education in the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year.

ScholarGifts

ScholarGifts are non-competitive monetary awards given to applicants who meet all our eligibility requirements, submit all the materials required, and attend a mandatory one-day college preparatory workshop.

College Preparatory

Workshop

The one-day college preparatory workshop is set for Spring 2025.The workshop is a series of sessions that will focus on the following topics:

  • Health and Wellness

  • Financial Literacy

  • Career Building

  • Relationships

  • Academic Coaching

  • And more

ScholarShower

After completing the college preparatory workshop, applicants will be invited to attend our ScholarShower. The shower is an opportunity to celebrate each applicant's educational accomplishments and support them as they transition into their next phase of life. During the shower, applicants will receive their ScholarGift and college care packages. 

NOTE: Attendance at the college preparatory workshop and an acceptance letter from the college/university that the applicant plans to attend in the fall semester/quarter of 2025 are required to attend the ScholarShower.

Eligibility 

Requirements

  • ​Greater Atlanta resident (Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Rockdale Counties, and the city of Atlanta)

  • Young woman in her senior year of high school

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.00 scale

  • Mother has a end-stage cancer diagnosis, or has died from cancer

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Two letters of recommendation (both letters must be written on official letterhead and signed)

  • Submit an essay/personal statement

  • Submit a one-minute video introduction of yourself

  • Official academic transcript

We understand that figuring out how to pay for post-secondary education can be overwhelming.
